Barry Jemison

Elder

Barry is a native of Wilmer, AL.  Around 25 years ago, he felt the Lord leading him to ministry.  Barry and Nan quickly fell in love with the people of George County and for several years they felt a great burden to plant a church there. In 2014, the core team met for the first time, 12 people around a kitchen table. Journey Community Church launched on Easter Sunday in 2015.
Barry and Nan have been married for 41 years. They have 3 grown daughters and 7 grandkids, who are the light of their lives. 

Brad McKissack

Elder

Brad McKissack is originally from Seminary, Mississippi but has lived in George County now for over 20 years. Brad accepted Jesus as his personal savior at age 7, and was raised in a Christian home where his parents and grandparents were  followers of Christ.
   Brad was called into the ministry at age 20. Soon after, he began preaching in the George & Greene County Baptist Association as a supply preacher. He also served as a short term interim for many years. He served as an Associate Pastor at FBC Lucedale for two years under the late Earnest “Bud” Parker. Brad currently serves Journey Church as an elder with financial oversight, teaching, and preaching  Responsibilities.
    Brad has been married for 21 years to Ashley Landrum whom he met while a student at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville Mississippi. Brad has three wonderful children; Logan 19, Landen 17, and Abigail 12.

Joey Cochran

Elder

Joey is a George County native, and has felt the call to ministry since he was 12 years old. He has served in ministry for over 25 years, including as Youth Pastor on church Staff in Mississippi and Alabama. He has also served in parachurch ministries: Youth for Christ, Baptist Student Union at MGCCC George County campus, and Inquest Ministry Youth Camps. Joey currently serves Journey Community Church as Youth Pastor and Elder.
Joey is a graduate of The University of Mobile with Bachelors of Science in Biblical Studies & Master of Divinity at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Melissa Lanier Cochran of Atmore, AL.  They have 4 Daughters, Carys, Anna-Kate, Lilly, and Elia.  

Kayla Morgan

Secretary

Kayla was born and raised in George County. She was raised in a Christian home and gave her life to the Lord as a teenager. She has been married to her husband, Daniel, for 11 years and they have three children: Rylee Kate, Cale, and Addy. Fun fact about Kayla, 10/19 is her favorite day!

Vanessa Wallace

Journey Kids Minister

Vanessa  has a heart for children and helping them to grow in their love and knowledge of God and scripture.
She is married to Scott and they have four children: Noah, Ben, Mia, and Sam.

Brian Henderson

Missions and Outreach Minister 

Brian is a native of George County. He gave his life to Christ as an adult after his son attended a VBS outreach in 2003, and immediately started serving and leading in various capacities in the local church. After an international mission trip to Brazil in 2006, he was called into ministry. In 2009 through 2011, Brian and his family served with the International Mission Board in Costa Rica and Peru, leading logistics and local outreach. Upon return from the international field, he served as a deacon and led missions, men’s ministry, RA’s, and volunteered in youth through a local church. In 2016-2020, he interned through the North American Mission Board in Billings, Montana, while serving the Montana Southern Baptist Convention and serving on staff at a local church. Joining Journey Community Church upon his return to Lucedale, he currently leads Children’s Church and VBS, while serving as Pastor of Outreach and Missions.
Brian has an Associate of Science degree from MGCCC and has 118 semester hours of seminary from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Brian and Felicia have been married for 31 years. They have a son, Skylar, and a daughter, Sydney. 

Taylor Cooley

Worship Leader  & Media

Taylor grew up in Wilmer, Alabama, & has grown up in the church with a family involved in ministry of all kinds- which helped instill a love for worship & service in her! She leads our worship team & congregation in worship as well as runs media for all things Journey. She is married to her husband, Zane, & they have one daughter, Abie Ruth.

Tommy Hilbun

Deacon

Tommy was ordained as a deacon at Rocky Creek Baptist Church in 1984. He has loved being apart of Journey since the very beginning. He is married to Nan & they have 3 children, Jaime, Valarie, & Rob. They have 8 grandchildren. He enjoys assisting our ministry teams in any way he can. Him & Nan also enjoy leading our senior adult ministry, Journey Generations, as well as leading a small group.

Josh Mcdonald

Josh grew up in Vancleave, MS, and moved to Lucedale 7 years ago with his wife, Ashley. They both knew from their first visit at Journey that it would become their new "home". The Mcdonalds have two children, Georgia Lynn & Easton Gray. They love serving their church, community, and the Lord.
